Policy history

Last updated: October 20, 2026

The short version. Every version of our three core policies is published here, exactly as it read, so you can find the one that applied when you bought or signed up. A purchase keeps the refund windows of the policy it was sold under. Each policy page also carries its "Last updated" date and a link back here.

Terms of Service

  • October 8, 2026, Essentials reading rule: Essentials bought from publication of this version can be read through Overview, Profile and Strengths & Growth without ending the 7-day refund. The once-per-account limit remains. Earlier purchases, Full reports and plans keep their existing rules. Read this version.
  • October 22, 2026 (takes effect October 22, 2026): Published September 25, 2026, revised September 30, October 1 and October 2, 2026, and in effect October 22, 2026. Section 2 says email support is part of the Service and the WiredType Care Team provides it: it answers your email, decides refund requests under the refund policy and makes the account changes you ask for, and a person reviews what the Care Team passes on or you dispute. Section 14 emails you only for a new fee, a higher price, a shorter refund window, a change to how a subscription renews or a cut to what an active subscription includes, a change to the arbitration or dispute terms, sharing your data with a new kind of company, or a new use of data we hold; other changes that reduce what you may do or a right you have come as a notice in Messages, at most one a quarter. Section 15 drops the reply times for a person. Section 5 adds credit packs: a pack is refunded in full if you ask within 7 days of buying it and have spent none of its credits. Revised September 30: section 4 says how plan changes work and that a plan bought during the free month of Plus is first charged when that month ends; section 5 adds the 7-day refund of an upgrade charge, which keeps your plan and also refunds the Pro-minus-Plus difference of a renewal charged since the upgrade. Section 7 replaces its second paragraph: you may add people you know to your list on Together and exchange details through your card, and what you add about another person on Together or your card stays to what you need to get along, with no private details and nothing about a person under 18 unless you are their parent or guardian. Revised again September 30: the rule for a plan bought during a free month also covers the Welcome month, the free month that now comes with a report. Section 4 adds member prices: while you have Plus or Pro you pay 10 percent less for credit packs and report upgrades, a member price is the purchase's one discount and a larger discount you hold wins, and what you bought stays yours when your plan ends. Revised October 1: section 4, The Founder's Circle, has one ring: a person who first arrives through the founder's own card, link or code is in it, with 25 percent off the reports they buy for themselves, and the 15 percent second ring ends (nobody held it). Section 5 says a plan bought before October 22, 2026 keeps the old refund rule, even when its first charge comes after its free month, and a plan bought during the free month is first charged when that month ends or on the later date shown when you pay. Revised October 2: section 4 says a plan bought in the last four days of a free month is first charged on the date shown when you pay, and that we email you at least four days before a plan's first payment. Revised October 15, 2026: section 1 and the contact section name WiredType LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company, which runs WiredType from that day, the contact section gives its registered office, and the payments section says that purchases made before September 14, 2026 show WELLERDEVELER, the name on our earlier payment account, on your card statement. Read this version. Revised October 5, 2026: A new report is supplied when you finish the 28-question assessment; the $10 upgrade is supplied when you pay. Section 1 adds the approved 7-day rule for that upgrade. Corrected October 9, 2026: section 2 says the Care Team gives the refunds the refund policy allows and never turns one down, and a person decides any refund it cannot give, as the refund policy says. Section 5 says a plan's monthly credits end when the plan's period ends. Revised October 11, 2026: section 5 says buyers in the EEA and the UK can cancel the unused AI credits from Essentials, Full or the upgrade within 14 days at half the price spread across the credits, and that the order window states the terms once, with a box only for EEA and UK buyers. Revised October 20, 2026. Section 5 says that a report you buy after the free test and before you take the 28-question assessment is supplied the moment you pay and opens with the type from your free result. It opens on the Overview, so the 7-day refund is unchanged. Revised October 11, 2026: Essentials costs $9.95 for new purchases, and the upgrade to the Full Profile costs the difference, $20, or $10 for Essentials bought at $19.95. Revised October 12, 2026: Essentials includes a PDF of the report, and for Essentials bought under the October 8, 2026 Essentials policy version, downloading that PDF ends the 7-day refund.
  • September 24, 2026 (in effect until October 22, 2026): The contact lines say that before October 8 the Care Team answers you only if you reply yes to its first email, and that a reply of person to that email, or stop to any Care Team email, is kept before and after October 8. Corrected October 9, 2026: one statement about when a report is delivered now matches what we do. Added October 2, 2026: the refund of unused credits when you delete your account. Added October 11, 2026: the 14-day cancellation of unused AI credits for buyers in the EEA and the UK, and the order window that states the terms once. Added October 11, 2026: the Essentials price and the difference you pay to upgrade to the Full Profile. Added October 12, 2026: a PDF to Essentials. Changed October 15, 2026: WiredType LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company, took over running WiredType, and these terms are between you and WiredType LLC; every right under this version carries over unchanged. Changed October 2, 2026: a plan bought in the last four days of a free month is first charged on the date the checkout page shows, at least four days after purchase, and we email you at least four days before that first payment. Changed October 1, 2026: the Founder's Circle has one ring: a person who first arrives through the founder's own card, link or code is in it, with 25 percent off the reports they buy for themselves, and the 15 percent second ring ends (nobody held it). Changed September 30, 2026: section 7 says what you may add about another person on Together and through your card, and where the limit is; until October 22, 2026, anything the person agreed to stays allowed. Changed September 30, 2026: we added member prices (10 percent less for credit packs and report upgrades while you have Plus or Pro, as the one discount of a purchase), how plan changes work, the 7-day refund of an upgrade charge (which keeps your plan and also refunds the Pro-minus-Plus difference of a renewal charged since the upgrade), and when a plan bought during the free month of Plus is first charged. Changed September 29, 2026: section 4 says we email 40 days and 7 days before a yearly renewal, and before the renewal on each anniversary of a monthly plan. Changed September 25, 2026: section 7 says a photo for a portrait shows you or someone who agreed to let you use it, and how a person in a portrait they did not agree to has it removed. For people with a WiredType account, the yes step ended on October 1, 2026; see the Privacy Policy's October 1 revision below. Read this version.
  • September 23, 2026: Revised later the same day: section 5 names the cutoff in US Eastern time. Section 4 gains The Founder's Circle: who is in it, 25 or 15 percent off the reports you buy for yourself, one discount per purchase, refunds and value, and that the discount lasts for as long as you keep your account; sections 2 and 14 say they do not reach it. Section 5 adds Consumers in Australia, with the reg 90(4) text of the Competition and Consumer Regulations 2010: the guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law cannot be excluded, the 7-day guarantee and plan windows are in addition to them, claiming costs nothing, and "final" and "not refunded" do not exclude them; sections 9 to 12 say they do not reach those guarantees; the tax paragraph says checkout adds no GST and that a bank may charge a fee for a payment processed in the United States. Sections 12 and 13 let a consumer in Australia bring a claim in the courts or consumer tribunal where they live, and the arbitration agreement and class action waiver do not apply to them. Section 7 says we will not use your user content to train any AI model, ours or anyone else's, which is what the AI Use page and the Privacy Policy promise. Corrected September 25, 2026: the Care Team start date in section 15 moved to October 22, 2026. Read this version.
  • September 23, 2026, as published at 3:42 PM (replaced the same day): Section 5 names the cutoff as 7:30 PM Eastern on September 17, 2026 (the date sat on both sides of it) and says every purchase before it keeps the 30-day windows, which is what the account page has shown those buyers. Read this version.
  • September 17, 2026: Section 14 defines a material change and gives 14 days notice by email or by a notice in your account at sign-in; other changes take effect when published; a purchase keeps the refund windows it was sold under; the mailing address is printed in the contact section; section 4 says a paid report edition stays as bought and an improved edition arrives at no charge; section 1 sets the age rule at 18 for accounts, purchases and the AI coach, with the free screener open to everyone; section 5 replaces the 14-day report window with a 7-day guarantee while the report is unread past its first section and not downloaded, once per account, with a defect path, a consent box at checkout that starts delivery (and waives the EU and UK withdrawal right), first plan charge refundable within 7 days and a renewal within 48 hours if unused. Read this version.
  • September 16, 2026: Prices printed as static text ($19.95 Essentials); New Jersey carve-outs replace the "some jurisdictions" sentence in the disclaimer, liability and indemnity sections; the arbitration clause says it waives court and jury; the tax sentence; four AI features named with the AI Use page. Read this version.
  • September 13, 2026: Refund windows changed to 14 days (7 days for a monthly plan charge), with purchases before this date keeping their older windows; the refund policy page became the plain-language companion. Read this version.
  • September 12, 2026: The team package added; account deletion, chargebacks and plan credits at cancellation described. Read this version.
  • April 3, 2026: First published terms: the free screener and paid reports, subscriptions, 30-day refunds, taxes, New Jersey law and arbitration. Read this version.

Privacy Policy

  • What changes on October 22, 2026, compared with the version in effect now: This compares the version that takes effect on October 22, 2026 with the version in effect now, published September 23, 2026. Section 2 adds The WiredType Care Team (AI support). From October 22 the Care Team reads and answers the email you send us, using OpenAI or Anthropic. Since 5 PM US Eastern time on September 25, 2026, it has answered a person with no account at once, and since October 1, 2026 it has also answered a person with an account at once, with no yes first, as the version in effect now says. It answers all email, including privacy@, security@ and legal@ and requests about your data, and a person reviews any privacy request we decline, any appeal, any legal notice and any security report. The section says what each of its two levels reads, what it may change on your account when you ask, the confirmation link it sends before it removes anything, what it keeps for two years, and the optional survey. It gives a refund the refund policy allows and never turns one down, a person at WiredType decides any refund it cannot give, and a person reviews any answer you dispute. You can ask for a person at any time. From October 22, a weekly review of the Care Team's conversations, with names and email addresses removed, improves its answers and our pages. Section 2 also adds Share links and cards (a shared link and its image carry your first name and type, and anyone with the link can see them), Being found by people who have your email address, Public thanks, and Sign-in security. Sign-in security covers authenticator apps, security keys, passkeys, recovery codes, a recovery email, the security log, and the IP address that Supabase records for each signed-in session. Openings of shared links are counted as hourly totals that hold nothing about any person. An assessment record now keeps your browser name and version and your operating system, and no longer the full user-agent string. We record when you open a report and download its PDF. A model reads your replies to our invitation emails to see whether you asked a question or asked us to stop writing, and the AI features send your text to OpenAI or Anthropic. The result email can print your four scores. WiredType no longer emails the people in your Together list. A person in a list can ask what we hold about them and leave the list from any email we sent. Purchases made through a share link from a person a partner introduced are credited to that partner. Your history with us starts on October 22, and the Care Team also reads its summary. The conversations in Messages stay until you delete your account. Section 3 adds answering your email with AI and keeping your account secure, and it says our server keeps a salted hash of your IP address for 35 days. In section 4, Stripe receives your account ID and the ID of any partner who introduced you, the OpenAI entry adds the Care Team, the Anthropic entry names the features it serves, and Browserless is removed. Section 5 says Download my data covers everything your account holds, adds the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner to the appeal routes, adds a People in Australia part, and adds the legal bases for the Care Team (for a person with an account, your consent from September 25 to September 30, 2026 and our contract with you from October 1; for a person with no account, the steps asked for before a contract or our legitimate interest in answering the email; and our legitimate interest in the style matching and the weekly review, with an objection giving you plain replies). Section 6 says a friend's referral code is kept for 60 days and your own unclaimed code is deleted after 12 months. In section 7, deleting your account also deletes the Care Team's records, your sign-in security records and your Compare Together invitations and comparisons. Cookie banner records are kept three years, support email and Care Team records two years after your last message, and shared-link totals hold nothing about any person. Section 10 names where our database and server functions run and which providers process data. Section 11 emails you only for a new use of data we hold or sharing it with a new kind of company (price and refund changes are emailed under section 14 of the Terms), and other significant changes come as a notice in Messages, at most one a quarter. Section 12 says the Care Team usually replies within 60 minutes and that you can ask for a person at any time. Read the October 22, 2026 version or the version in effect now.
  • November 23, 2026 (takes effect November 23, 2026): Published October 15, 2026, and takes effect November 23, 2026. Section 2 says that when someone pays for a report with your email address, the screen after payment shows them whether that address already has a WiredType account, and we email you each time. It also says that from November 23, 2026, a photo of a person that you add to your card, and the photo you give us to draw portraits, must be of you. Section 5 links to our Your health data page, our consumer health data privacy policy for Washington. We revised this version on October 20, 2026 with the same changes as the current policy. Section 6 says that no cookie banner opens in the EEA, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, and it describes the cookie a creator's link sets. Section 5 says that taking the assessment rests on the steps you ask us to take, under Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR and the UK GDPR. Section 2 describes the two group maps. Read this version.
  • October 9, 2026. To keep prompts out of your way, cookie choices stay in the footer without opening a banner for connections our host locates in the United States. Analytics that uses a visit ID stays off until you allow it. Seven anonymous step totals may run there before a cookie choice; elsewhere, or when the location is unknown, they wait for Analytics permission. The stored totals hold only a step name, a count and a one-minute period, with no cookie, ID or IP address. Our host still handles your IP address to deliver the request. Global Privacy Control, Do Not Track and a refusal stop these totals. The rules for referral and partner credit stay as they were. These changes apply when this update reaches the site. The other changes announced for October 22 keep that date. Read the cookie choices and what the counts keep.
  • We updated this policy on October 20, 2026. If our host locates your connection in the EEA, Switzerland or the United Kingdom, no cookie banner opens, as was already the case in the United States, to keep prompts out of your way. Your cookie choices are in Cookie settings, linked in the footer. Until you turn them on there, the site stores only what it needs to work, and Analytics and Marketing stay off, so no partner link, creator link or friend's shared link is remembered. In the United Kingdom the anonymous step totals run from the first page, as in the United States, and saving with Analytics off in Cookie settings stops them. When you arrive through a creator's link, WiredType sets one cookie of its own, wt_cl, for 30 days. It holds only the link's code, so checkout gives you the creator's offer. In the EEA, Switzerland and the United Kingdom it is set only if you allow Marketing. If you are in the EEA, Switzerland or the United Kingdom, we handle your answers and your result because you asked us to give you your result, which Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR and the UK GDPR allows. Section 2 of the current policy now describes both group maps: your private group map, which only you see, and the shared group map, which you join only if you choose to. These changes apply from October 20, 2026. Read the cookie choices.
  • October 22, 2026 (takes effect October 22, 2026): Published September 23, 2026, revised September 25, September 30, October 1, October 2 and October 3, 2026, and in effect October 22, 2026. Revised October 1: Report a problem in section 2 says that when Scout offers to send a problem you mention and you press Send, we keep your last message, Scout's answer and the page you were on, and nothing else from the conversation, and section 7 says counts of those offers are kept 14 days; this part applies from October 1, 2026. Also revised October 1: section 2 says that from October 1, 2026 the Care Team answers email from an address with a WiredType account at once, with no yes first, and that every Care Team reply ends with a line saying the Care Team is AI and that you can reply person to have a person answer you; section 5 says the legal basis for that email from October 1 is our contract with you; the sentence saying we regularly review the Care Team's work is removed. Revised September 30: Share links and cards in section 2 says we keep the first name you typed with your link's code, so the shared page and its preview show your name and the type from your saved result, that we delete the name after 12 months or with your free result or your account, and that our host keeps the preview for up to a day; section 6 says the same of your referral code; this part applies from September 30, 2026. Revised September 25: the date moves from October 8 to October 22. Revised again September 25: section 2 says that from 5 PM US Eastern time that day until October 22 the Care Team answers a person with no account at once and a person with an account after a yes to its first email, and that a person answers email to privacy@, security@ and legal@, requests about your data and legal notices until October 22; section 5 adds the legal basis for a person with no account. The WiredType Care Team, which uses OpenAI or Anthropic, answers all email, including privacy@, security@ and legal@ and requests about your data, and a person reviews any privacy request we decline, any appeal, any legal notice and any security report. It decides refund requests by the refund policy, and a person reviews an answer you dispute. You can ask for a person at any time, with no set time for the answer. From October 22 the legal basis for the Care Team in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland is our contract with you, and an objection to the style matching gets you plain replies. A weekly review of the Care Team's conversations, with names and email addresses removed, improves its answers and our pages. Openings of shared links are counted as hourly totals that hold nothing about any person. Your history with us starts October 22. Section 11 emails you only for a new use of data we hold or sharing it with a new kind of company (price and refund changes are emailed under section 14 of the Terms); other significant changes come as a notice in Messages, at most one a quarter. Revised September 30: section 2 adds Invited testers, which says what the site records for an invited tester who says yes to its notice. Section 6 says the cookie banner does not turn that recording on or off, and section 7 says how long it is kept and that deleting your account deletes it. Clarified September 30: section 2 says a member may write where they met a person and a one-line note that only the member sees, kept to what they need to get along as section 7 of the Terms says, that a person in someone's list may ask what we hold about them, including any note, and that email to privacy@wiredtype.com is a way to object; section 9 says only a parent or guardian may add a person under 18 to a list. Corrected October 1: turning off research participation stops new research records, and Delete my research data removes the ones already recorded. Revised October 2: section 2 adds Comparing from your free result, which says what we store when you make a private link for one person you name, that the person you name is never contacted by us, that the two results connect only if that person chooses to open the comparison, and how either of you removes it; sections 4, 5 and 7 add its sharing, legal basis, export and retention lines; this part applies from October 2, 2026. Also revised October 2: Portraits for your card in section 2 and section 7 say every finished portrait is saved in Your photos at once, the photo is deleted within a day of starting or when you press Start again with new choices, and a request to be emailed about your portraits or the photo service is kept until the email is sent; this part applies from October 2, 2026. Also revised October 2: section 7 says we keep the record of your agreement to a paid plan's automatic renewal for three years, or one year after the plan ends if that is later, even after you delete your account; section 2 says we keep which account brought you to WiredType and how, for the Founder's Circle, partner credit and totals that name nobody, until you delete your account. Also revised October 2: Comparing from your free result in section 2 adds the “how we click” card: either person can ask for a public card with both first names, both styles and one line about each style, it goes up only after both say yes, either can take it down, and we clear our host's copies when it comes down; section 5 adds its legal basis (the consent of both people) and sections 5 and 7 add the cards to the export and to account deletion; this part applies from October 2, 2026. Revised October 3: sections 2, 5, 7 and 9 describe card visibility, standing card links, connection consent, contact sharing and automatic sharing, adults-only sharing, private management links, removal, export, real-pattern scores, and printed-link retention; these changes apply from October 3, 2026. Corrected October 3: Analytics sources include AI assistants since September 16, and group links and printed report links have been available since October 2. Section 1 names WiredType LLC from October 15, 2026. Also revised October 3: section 2 adds Group map, where people choose to show their first name and style to others who also choose to appear, with no answers or scores, and leave when they turn it off or the comparison ends. Comparing from your free result adds connecting an existing result with one tap and a choice to share your first name and style with each new person, still tapping to connect each time; turning the choice off stops it at once, and it is saved on your account if signed in, otherwise in your browser. Section 6 adds that sharing choice to the local storage list. Revised October 15, 2026: section 1 names WiredType LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company, as the company that runs WiredType and is responsible for your personal data from that day, and gives its registered office. Read this version. Revised October 5, 2026: Section 2 adds anonymous per-minute step totals that start when shipped, honor Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track, and keep nothing about a person. From October 22 a campaign code in a link is saved with the free result, with no other link or referring-page detail. Section 6 lists the 30-day comparison cookie, the 365-day partner program cookie and the unsent Scout message kept in the browser tab. Revised October 9, 2026: Report a problem in section 2 says we keep a report until you delete your account, or, for a report sent while signed out, until you ask us to delete it. Corrected October 9, 2026: section 7 says that pausing or replacing your card's link, or changing your card code, leaves comparisons already made in place, and section 2 says we keep a copy of the free-result email only when the address has an account. Section 2 also says that a person named in a link is held with the kind of relationship picked, that a stop reply keeps the Care Team from reading your email, that support inbox mail is kept two years after your last message, and that an erased inbox copy goes to the trash within a day and Google removes it within 30 days; the short version describes the seven anonymous counts in plain words. Revised October 11, 2026: section 2 and the short version describe the anonymous step totals as a kind of count, the steps people reach on the site such as starting and finishing the test, viewing a result or an offer and opening checkout, with no ID and nothing that identifies anyone, under the same rules that stop them. Section 2, Compare, says that when you finish the 28-question assessment we ask you once whether your comparisons may use the new result, with the deeper guidance about you; no or no answer keeps what you shared; and, when both people allow Analytics, what we record about the deeper guidance and when we delete it. Section 9 says the 16-or-older confirmation comes before any comparison opens. Revised October 20, 2026. Section 6 and the short version say that if our host locates your connection in the EEA, Switzerland or the United Kingdom, no cookie banner opens. The site then stores only what it needs to work, and Analytics and Marketing stay off until you turn them on in Cookie settings. In the United Kingdom the anonymous step totals run from the first page, as in the United States, and saving with Analytics off stops them. Section 6 describes the wt_cl cookie that a creator's link sets for 30 days. Section 5 says that taking the assessment and seeing your result rests on the steps you ask us to take, under Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR and the UK GDPR. Section 2 describes the two group maps: your private group map, which only you see, and the shared group map, which you join only if you choose to.

A new section 2 heading, The WiredType Care Team (AI support), describes the AI team that reads every email sent to WiredType, answers what it can, and only acknowledges email to privacy@, security@ and legal@ and passes it to a person: what each of its two levels reads, OpenAI as its only AI provider, what it may change on your account when you ask and the email confirmation it asks for first, what is kept and for two years, the optional survey, and how to reach a person, from October 8, 2026 for all email. Sign-in security is described (authenticator apps, security keys, passkeys, recovery codes and a recovery email) with how long each record is kept, and so are share links and cards, public thanks and referral codes. Server functions keep a salted hash of your IP address for 35 days, Stripe receives your account ID and any partner ID, and cookie and consent records are kept three years. Read this version.
  • September 23, 2026 (in effect until October 22, 2026): A new section 2 heading, Compare, Together and your card, says what Compare stores and shows the other person, what a list and a card hold, how a person in someone's list is removed, and how long each record is kept; section 4 says data is shared with other users only in the ways you choose there, and Resend receives the addresses of people who asked for a card or were invited; a GDPR legal basis for people in a list; retention rows for lists, card exchanges and comparisons. Corrected September 23, 2026: four statements about Stripe, the IP address hash, Browserless and four September 17 disclosures now match what we do. Corrected September 25, 2026: one statement about the Email me this result email now matches what it carries. Corrected September 25, 2026: one statement about who decides a refund now matches what we do. Corrected September 30, 2026: this version left out recording for invited testers, which has been available since September 19, 2026. A new statement, Invited testers, now says what the site records for an invited tester who says yes to its notice. Corrected October 1, 2026: one statement about turning research off now says that it stops new research records, and how to remove the ones already recorded. Corrected October 3, 2026: Analytics sources include AI assistants, recorded since September 16, 2026. Corrected October 3, 2026: group links have been available since October 2, 2026. Corrected October 3, 2026: printed report links have been available since October 2, 2026. Corrected October 9, 2026: one statement about how long a comparison made through a card's standing link lasts now matches what we do. Corrected October 9, 2026: the age step before connecting from a card is a confirmation that you are 16 or older, as it has been since October 5, 2026. Corrected October 9, 2026: one statement about how long we keep a problem report now matches what we do. Added September 25, 2026: the Report a problem flag to the site header. Added September 25, 2026: the rule on what a gift keeps after you delete your account. Changed September 25, 2026: from 5 PM US Eastern time, the WiredType Care Team, using OpenAI or Anthropic, answers email from a person with no account at once and from an account holder after a yes to its first email, and until October 22 a person answers email to privacy@, security@ and legal@, requests about your data and legal notices. Changed October 15, 2026: WiredType LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company, took over running WiredType and is responsible for your personal data; your consents and choices carry over unchanged. Changed October 2, 2026: every finished portrait is saved in Your photos at once, and the photo is deleted within a day of starting or when you press Start again with new choices. Changed September 25, 2026: the photo for a portrait may be of you or of someone who agreed to let you use it. Changed September 25, 2026: the Teams paragraph says what team admins see, that they download your full report only if you allow it, and what leaving a team deletes. Changed September 30, 2026: a team can now name a manager for each person. The manager sees the person's name, DISC type, four scores and the tips built from them. Unless the manager is also an admin, the manager never sees the person's email address or full report, and no one on the team sees the answers. A person told about a new manager after joining is shown to that manager 24 hours after the notice. A person who joined before this change is shown only after saying yes. Anyone can turn this off on their team page. Changed September 30, 2026: when you share a free result, we keep the first name you typed with your link's code, so the shared page and its preview show your name and the type from your saved result; the name is deleted after 12 months or with your free result or your account. Changed October 1, 2026: the Care Team answers email from an address with a WiredType account at once, and every reply ends with one line saying the Care Team is AI. Changed October 1, 2026: when Scout offers to send a problem you mention and you press Send, we keep your last message, Scout's answer and the page you were on; counts of those offers, a number for each minute with no words, are kept 14 days. Changed October 2, 2026: when you make a private link from your free result for one person you name, we keep the two first names, the kind of relationship and when the link was used; we never contact that person, the two results connect only if that person opens the comparison, and either of you can remove it. Changed October 2, 2026: after a comparison opens, either of you can ask for a public card with both first names, both styles and one line about each style; it goes up only after both of you say yes, either can take it down, and our host's copies are cleared when it comes down. Changed October 3, 2026: card visibility, connections, contact sharing, removal, export and retention change. Changed October 10, 2026: anonymous step totals described as a kind of count; comparisons may move to your new 28-question result only if you say yes; the deeper-guidance record and its deletion. Read this version.
  • September 17, 2026: Section 11 defines a material change and promises 14 days notice by email for one; other changes are shown in your account at sign-in or by email and take effect when published. Section 2 says how the words you give us about yourself (name, pronouns, title) are used; the mailing address is printed in sections 1 and 12; a new section 2 heading, Your history with us, describes the record of messages and emails between you and WiredType, the running summary, the export and delete rights, and the two-year limit without an account (effective 14 days after the notice email); section 9 sets the age rule at 18 for accounts, purchases and the AI coach and says what the date-of-birth screen keeps. Read this version.

  • September 12, 2026: Signed-out assessment records, the free-result email, teams, the research program, consent records and email forwarding described; self-serve export and deletion on the account page; processor list completed. Read this version.
  • April 3, 2026: First published policy: what is collected, the processors, GDPR and CCPA rights, cookies, retention, children. Read this version.

Refund and Cancellation Policy

  • October 8, 2026, Essentials reading rule: Essentials bought from publication of this version can be read through Overview, Profile and Strengths & Growth without ending the 7-day refund. The once-per-account limit remains. Earlier purchases, Full reports and plans keep their existing rules. Read this version.
  • October 22, 2026 (takes effect October 22, 2026): Published September 23, 2026, revised September 25, September 30, October 1 and October 2, 2026, and in effect October 22, 2026. Revised September 25: the date moves from October 8 to October 22. Section 9 says the WiredType Care Team decides a refund request you email under this policy, and a person reviews an answer you dispute. Section 11 drops the reply times for a person and says you can ask for a person at any time. Sections 1 and 9 add credit packs: a pack is refunded in full if you ask within 7 days of buying it and have spent none of its credits. Revised September 30: section 7 says what happens when you change your plan and when a plan bought during the free month of Plus is first charged, and adds the 3-day notice before that first payment; sections 3, 4, 7 and 9 add the 7-day refund of an upgrade charge, which keeps your plan and also refunds the Pro-minus-Plus difference of a renewal charged since the upgrade; section 8 adds choosing Free on your plan page. Revised again September 30: the rule for a plan bought during a free month also covers the Welcome month, the free month that now comes with a report. Section 1 says a pack or upgrade bought at a member price is refunded at the member price. Revised October 1: the credit rule says, in both places it appears, that a plan bought before October 22, 2026 keeps the old rule, even when its first charge comes after its free month. Revised October 2: a plan bought in the last four days of a free month is first charged on the date shown when you pay, and we email you at least four days before a plan's first payment. Revised again October 2: section 7 says a first payment after a free month is refundable within 7 days as sections 3 and 4 describe, and that the first charge of a plan is refundable in full only if none of its credits has been used, and section 10 says deleting your account refunds the credits you bought and have not used. Revised October 15, 2026: the postal address names WiredType LLC, which runs WiredType from that day, and the card statement line says that purchases made before September 14, 2026 show WELLERDEVELER, the name on our earlier payment account. Read this version. Revised October 5, 2026: The report delivery wording says a new report is supplied when you finish the 28-question assessment and the $10 upgrade when you pay. Section 5 adds the approved 7-day rule for that upgrade. Corrected October 9, 2026: section 5 points to section 12 for the rules of the 15-seat team package, and section 12 says that seats bought in bands keep the 14-day rule in section 5 and the 15-seat team package keeps its own rules in section 12. Section 1 says a plan's monthly credits end when the plan's period ends. Revised October 11, 2026: section 1 says buyers in the EEA and the UK can cancel the unused AI credits from Essentials, Full or the upgrade within 14 days at half the price spread across the credits, and that the order window states the terms once, with a box only for EEA and UK buyers. Revised October 20, 2026. Section 1 and the short version say that a report you buy after the free test and before you take the 28-question assessment is supplied the moment you pay and opens with the type from your free result.
  • October 8, 2026 (replaced on September 25, 2026, before it took effect): Published September 23, 2026, revised September 24, 2026, and dated to take effect October 8, 2026. Revised later that day: the text published at 3:42 PM, with these changes. Sections 1 and 12 name the cutoff as 7:30 PM US Eastern time on September 17, 2026. A new section 13, Consumers in Australia, carries the reg 90(4) text, says claiming costs nothing and which exchange rate a refund uses, and the summary points to it; "no refund" reads "no change-of-mind refund"; and the contact section gives the reply times before and after October 8. Revised September 24: the contact section says that before October 8 the Care Team answers you only if you reply yes to its first email, and that a reply of person to that email, or stop to any Care Team email, is kept before and after October 8. Purchases made before 7:30 PM Eastern on September 17, 2026 keep the 30-day windows (section 12), and a refund for our own error or a report defect no longer uses the once-per-account guarantee. A request outside the guarantee is answered by email within 24 hours. Read this version.
  • September 17, 2026 (in effect until October 22, 2026): The mailing address is printed in the contact section. The 14-day report window becomes a 7-day guarantee while the report is unread past its first section and not downloaded, once per account; a new section 2 covers a report with something wrong in it (fixed, refunded or credited); plans: the first charge refundable within 7 days, a renewal within 48 hours if unused, otherwise cancel with access to the end of the period; purchases keep the policy they were bought under (the 14-day windows published on September 13 never took effect in code, so purchases before this version sit on the 30-day windows). Added October 2, 2026: the refund of unused credits when you delete your account. Added October 11, 2026: the 14-day cancellation of unused AI credits for buyers in the EEA and the UK, and the order window that states the terms once. Changed October 2, 2026: a plan bought in the last four days of a free month is first charged on the date the checkout page shows, at least four days after purchase, and we email you at least four days before that first payment. Changed September 30, 2026: we added that a pack or upgrade bought at a member price is refunded at the member price, how plan changes work, the 7-day refund of an upgrade charge (which keeps your plan and also refunds the Pro-minus-Plus difference of a renewal charged since the upgrade), and when a plan bought during the free month of Plus is first charged. Changed September 29, 2026: we email 40 days and 7 days before a yearly renewal, and before the renewal on each anniversary of a monthly plan. Read this version.

Partner Terms

  • Revised October 11, 2026: the pending November 2, 2026 wording now names the upgrade without its old price; no rate or rule changed. Read this version.

On October 13, 2026, we corrected section 1 of the September 12 refund policy so it says that team seat packs follow the team refund schedule in section 4. That schedule is unchanged. We also revised the Partner Terms to say that we email you at least 30 days before changes to your commission rate, how and when you are paid, or who can be a partner. Other changes follow the notice and acceptance rules in section 14. Read the corrected refund policy, the Partner Terms and the previous Partner Terms version of October 2, 2026.

On October 14, 2026, we corrected section 4 of the September 12 refund policy. It gave a team package a 50% refund from day 31 through day 90 only if team usage had been light. Now you get a 50% refund in that period, however many team members have taken the assessment, and your team keeps access through the end of the year. The October 13 correction to section 1 stays in place. We published the corrected policy on October 15, 2026. Read the refund policy as corrected on October 14.
