AI Use and Transparency
Last updated: September 24, 2026
The short version. Section 1 lists every feature that uses AI and what each one sends, including the WiredType Care Team that answers email sent to WiredType. The coach and the WiredType Care Team are software. Neither one is a person or a therapist, and either one can be wrong. Nothing you type is used to train AI models. If you are in crisis, the numbers are in section 4.
1. Which features use AI
| Feature | What it sends to the AI provider | What comes back |
|---|---|---|
| AI coach chat with Scout | Your messages in that conversation, your DISC type and scores if the page has them, and the name of the report tab you are on. | The reply you see. We do not save the conversation. |
| Writing-sample analysis | The text you paste, after the optional scrub of names and emails. | A style estimate. The text is not stored. |
| Team pair reports | The names, DISC types and scores of the two teammates, and how they said they work together. | The pair report, which is saved so the team can read it again. |
| The WiredType Care Team, our AI support team (email to hello@wiredtype.com and our other addresses) | The subject and text of your email and our help and policy pages. If you have an account, it also sends your report level, your plan and your purchases with their refund status for the answer, and your DISC type and scores for the wording. | The facts of the answer, a check of the finished reply, and a reply in your style and in the language you wrote in, plus an English translation of the exchange when you write in another language. The reply is sent to you by email and kept with your messages. Its senior agent, which is also an AI, also sends the name and pronouns you set, your DISC results, whether you have opened and downloaded your reports, your settings, the discount codes you hold, whether you belong to a team or have a Compare Together connection, the summary of your history with us, and your support conversations from October 22 on, or from the time you replied yes to the Care Team’s first email, if that was earlier. When you ask, the Care Team can make the account changes our policies allow, and it keeps a record of each change. From October 22, 2026, the Care Team decides refund requests under the refund policy. It can approve a refund the policy allows, offer a fix or a credit, or explain why a request is outside the policy, and a person at WiredType reviews any answer you dispute. It also answers email to privacy@, security@ and legal@, and a person at WiredType reviews any privacy request we decline, any appeal, any legal notice, including an arbitration opt-out, and any security report. Before October 22, it never refuses a refund on its own, and mail to privacy@, security@ and legal@ goes to a person with no AI. |
| Email and reply wording | Your first name, your DISC type and scores, the facts of the message (a receipt, a result, a support reply), and the summary of your history with us when there is one, so the wording fits how you like to read. | The email text. The request is not saved by us. |
| Summary of your history with us | The record of messages between you and WiredType that section 2 of our Privacy Policy describes, when it changes. | A short summary, shown with the record on your account page. |
| Coach session summaries | If you are signed in and have turned on Remember my coach sessions: the conversation, once the chat panel closes. A conversation about your safety is never summarized. | A summary of about 80 words, kept in your history for 12 months. The conversation itself stays in your browser. |
| Replies to our invitation emails | If you reply to an invitation email we sent you: the subject and text of your reply. | A label for the reply, such as yes, no, a question or unsubscribe, so we can answer it or stop writing to you. |
| Changelog thanks check | When we fix something you reported or build an idea you sent: the subject and words of your report, the changelog line made from them, and your first name if you agreed to be named. | A decision on whether your first name and a short quote may appear on the changelog, and whether the line is fit to show. We keep the decision with your report. |
| Portraits for your card | If you make a portrait: the photo you give, the choices you pick (where you will use it, the clothing, the color and the background) and the optional detail you type, which OpenAI's moderation service checks before anything is drawn. | Four portraits. We delete your photo and every portrait you do not keep when you leave the page, or within a day. The portraits you keep stay in your account until you remove them or close the account. OpenAI keeps requests up to 30 days to check for abuse and does not use them to train its models. |
The provider is OpenAI or Anthropic for every feature in the table except the changelog thanks check and portraits, which use OpenAI alone. The WiredType Care Team uses OpenAI or Anthropic: one model writes the facts of the answer, the reply is written in your style and language, a translation into English is made when you write in another language, and a different model checks the finished reply before it is sent. The Care Team sends replies from October 22, 2026. Before then it reads your email only if you reply yes to its first email, and otherwise a person answers it. OpenAI and Anthropic work under their own privacy terms, linked in our Privacy Policy. OpenAI does not use API data to train its models unless a customer opts in, and we do not opt in; Anthropic's API terms say the same. We do not train any model on your answers, reports, or conversations.
Scoring your assessment does not use AI. Your DISC type and scores come from a fixed scoring method described on the Science page.
2. What the AI coach is and is not
Scout is an AI assistant. Scout is software and is not a person. It has no feelings and does not remember you between visits: each chat starts fresh. We do not store the conversation, and nobody at WiredType reads it as it happens. If you are signed in and turn on Remember my coach sessions, we keep a short summary of each session in your history, as section 1 says; Scout still starts each chat fresh. If you send an exchange as a bug report from the chat, that report goes to the owner's inbox. The chat panel says this on every open, and the coach will tell you it is an AI whenever you ask.
Not a therapist. The coach is not a therapist, counselor, psychologist, psychiatrist, physician, or any licensed professional. It does not diagnose, it does not name conditions, and it does not give treatment or medication advice. If you ask whether you have a condition, it will say that this is outside what WiredType does and point you to a licensed professional. DISC describes behavioral tendencies; it is not a clinical tool.
It can be wrong. The coach can misread a question, invent a detail, or give advice that does not fit your situation. Treat what it says as a starting point for your own judgment, not as a fact or an instruction. It never speaks for WiredType on billing, refunds, or your account; the help center and your account page do.
Age. The AI coach is for people 18 years of age or older, like accounts and purchases. Before your first message we ask for your date of birth; if it shows you are under 18 the chat does not start and nothing from that screen is kept except a count. The coach may not be suitable for some minors. If someone tells the coach they are under 13, it stops the conversation and asks them to use the site with a parent or guardian; if someone says they are 13 to 17, the coach keeps to the DISC basics (how the four styles communicate and work), stays away from dating and romance, and suggests talking things over with a trusted adult.
Reminders. The chat panel repeats that you are talking with an AI after every three hours of continued use and suggests a break.
3. What the coach will not do
- Claim to be a person, or say a person at WiredType will read, reply to, or act on what you wrote.
- Diagnose or name a mental or physical health condition, or give treatment or medication advice.
- Write sexual content or take part in romantic roleplay.
- Ask you unprompted about trauma, abuse, or psychiatric history.
- Continue DISC coaching when you say you are unsafe. It is built to stop and give the resources below instead.
- Make decisions about other people. The coach helps you communicate; it is not for hiring, promotion, pay, or discipline decisions (see Responsible Use).
4. If you are in crisis
If you write to the coach about hurting yourself or someone else, the coach is built to set the coaching aside and give the resources below. A plain-language check for those words runs in your browser and on our server before the AI is called, so the card appears even when the AI service is down; the AI itself is instructed to do the same for anything the check misses. No filter is perfect. Please use the numbers. You deserve support from a person.

These numbers were checked against each service's own website on September 16, 2026. If one has changed, email hello@wiredtype.com and we will fix it the same week.
5. How to report a bad AI response
If the coach says something wrong, harmful, or out of bounds:
- In the chat panel, type log this or file a bug. The widget packages the last exchange with the page you were on and asks you to confirm before it sends anything.
- Or email hello@wiredtype.com with the page and, if you can, the text of the reply.
Reports from the chat panel go to the owner, and if you are signed in you can follow yours under Account, then Messages. From October 22, 2026, email to hello@wiredtype.com is answered within 24 hours by the WiredType Care Team, our AI support team, which brings in a person at WiredType when a case is unusual. Before then, a person at WiredType answers your email, unless the Care Team asked you first and you replied yes. You can also ask for a person. Reports that show a real problem change the coach's instructions, and the fixes are listed on the changelog.
6. Where this fits
Our Terms of Service (section 2 and section 9) say the coach is not clinical and that AI output can be wrong. Our Privacy Policy (sections 2 and 4) lists the AI providers and what each receives. This page is the plain-language summary of both, and it is updated whenever an AI feature is added or a provider changes.
