The short version. DISC, the model, belongs to no one. "WiredType" and our logo belong to us. Every other product name on this site belongs to its owner, and none of them has endorsed or is connected with WiredType.

1. DISC is public domain

The DISC behavioral model (Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, Conscientiousness) was published by William Moulton Marston in Emotions of Normal People (1928). Marston never created an assessment or claimed the model, and it is in the public domain. Many companies sell DISC assessments; the word "DISC" as the name of the model is generic and is not owned by any of them, including us. What WiredType owns is everything we built on the model: our questions, scoring, report text, artwork, code, and characters, as described in section 6 of our Terms of Service. You can read Marston's original text in our Marston 1928 reader.

2. Our marks

"WiredType" and the WiredType logo are trademarks of WiredType. The character names on this site (Scout and the 25 type characters) are our creations. You may share your own results and quote short passages with attribution; you may not present our reports, questions, or characters as your own or use our name on a product we did not make.

3. Other people's marks

These names appear on the site only to describe or compare another product, never as a label for ours. Each is the property of its owner. WiredType is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any of them.

  • DiSC, Everything DiSC, and DiSC Classic are trademarks of John Wiley & Sons, Inc. WiredType is an independent product with its own assessment and content. We never style our product "DiSC" with a lowercase i; when you see that spelling here, it refers to Wiley's product.
  • The Five Love Languages is a book title and a trademark of The Moody Bible Institute of Chicago. WiredType is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Moody, Moody Publishers, Northfield Publishing, or Dr. Gary Chapman. Our "How you show care" sections describe ordinary care behaviors in our own words; they are not Chapman's assessment, and where a report names Dr. Chapman's 1992 work it does so only as a source.
  • Myers-Briggs, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and MBTI are trademarks of The Myers & Briggs Foundation, used under license by The Myers-Briggs Company. 16Personalities is a trademark of NERIS Analytics Limited. Enneagram names and the Big Five model are referenced as bodies of work; the Big Five is a public research model.
  • Stripe, Supabase, Netlify, OpenAI, Anthropic, Resend, and Google are the marks of the companies whose services run parts of this site, listed in our Privacy Policy.

4. How we cite

Where a report or lesson draws on published research, it names the author and year in the text. Book and article titles keep their original spelling. If you find a citation that is wrong or that we should not be using, email hello@wiredtype.com. The WiredType Care Team, our AI support team, answers within 24 hours. Before October 22, 2026, a person at WiredType answers your email, unless the Care Team asked you first and you replied yes. You can ask for a person at any time, and a person at WiredType replies to you by email. Corrections are logged on the changelog.

5. Requests from rights holders

If you own a mark or a work and believe it is used here in a way you did not allow, email legal@wiredtype.com with the page address and what you own. We answer within five business days and, where the concern is well founded, change or remove the use.
