Data Requests

Last updated: September 23, 2026

The short version. Account holders can download or delete everything themselves from the account page, right away. If you took an assessment without an account, this page deletes that record from our database and clears it from this browser. For anything else, email privacy@wiredtype.com; we answer within 30 days and you can appeal.

1. Your rights

You canWith an accountWithout an account
Access and exportDownload my data on your account page: one JSON file with everything your account holds: your account and profile, every assessment result, your purchases and report access, your messages with us and your history, your Compare Together invitations and comparisons, your referral codes, your cookie and consent records, your usage counts if you allowed them, your research participation, your sign-in security records, the devices signed in, and links to your report PDFs and any screenshots you sent us. The links work for 24 hours. Immediate.Email us the session ID from section 2 and we send the record it matches.
CorrectEdit your name on the account page. Retaking the assessment replaces your result. For anything else, email us.Retake the assessment; the newer result is what the site shows.
DeleteDelete my account on the account page: type DELETE, and your account and everything listed in the Privacy Policy is deleted at once. Immediate and permanent.Use the button in section 2 on the same browser you used for the assessment, or email us the session ID.
Remove your details from someone's listIf you exchanged details on someone's WiredType card or were added to their list, use the removal link in any email we sent you, or email privacy@wiredtype.com from that address. We remove them within 30 days and tell you when it is done.
Opt outTurn research participation off on the account page. Unsubscribe links are in every list email. We sell no data and run no targeted advertising, so there is no sale or sharing to opt out of; browsers that send Global Privacy Control are honored anyway (see section 4).Same.

2. Assessments taken without an account

An assessment taken while signed out is stored with a random session ID that lives only in that browser, with no name or email. That ID is how you prove the record is yours. On the browser you used, this panel shows it and can delete the matching records now.

Your assessment session ID on this browser: (none found on this browser)

If you took the assessment on another device or browser, open this page there. If the browser data was cleared, the ID is gone and the record cannot be matched to you; the record is kept for no more than 12 months (see the Privacy Policy, section 7).

You can also email the ID to privacy@wiredtype.com and ask for the record to be sent to you or deleted.

Messages you sent us without an account. If you wrote to us through the site or by email without an account, we keep that exchange and our replies under your email address for two years after your last message (Privacy Policy, Your history with us). Email privacy@wiredtype.com from that address and we erase it sooner.

3. How we check it is you

  • Account holders: write from the email address on the account, or use the buttons on the account page while signed in. If you write from another address, we reply to the account address to confirm.
  • No account: the session ID from section 2. We cannot match a signed-out record to a name or email any other way, and we will not guess.
  • Someone acting for you (an agent under California law, a parent for a child under 13): we ask for the account holder's confirmation from the account address, or a signed permission, before we act.

We never ask for your password, a copy of an ID document, or payment details to verify a request.

4. How long we take, and appeals

Self-service export and deletion happen at once. Email requests are answered within 30 days; if a request is complex we may take up to 45 more days and will tell you why, except that a person in Australia hears from us within 30 days. There is no charge, unless a request is plainly repetitive or unfounded, in which case we will say so before doing anything.

If we decline or delay a request, you may appeal by replying to our response with the word "appeal". We review the appeal and answer within 45 days with the reasons. If you are still not satisfied, you may contact the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs (njconsumeraffairs.gov), the attorney general of your state, in the EU or UK your data protection authority, or in Australia the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

Global Privacy Control. We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, so the signal has nothing to opt out of here. We honor it anyway: a browser that sends it is treated as having chosen Essential only and never sees the cookie banner.
