Dominance · one of the four pure types
D personality type (The Commander)
“You decide fast and push for results.”
Direct, decisive, and results-driven. Takes charge, moves fast, and thrives under pressure.
D is one of the four pure types in the WiredType model: Dominance leading on its own. If D is your type, this page reads like a mirror. If you work or live with someone whose type is D, it shows you what that person is wired to do and what to say to them.
This page is the public profile of the D type. It is not your report. Take the free test to see your own result, and see the reports and prices for the full D report.

How this type works with each style
Written to you as the D. If you are the other person in the pair, read your own style's section for what this type needs from you.
DD and D (Dominance)
Two Commanders in one room either get a lot done fast or burn the meeting on a power struggle. You respect each other instantly, drawn to the directness and the pace. The respect lasts until the first decision you both think is yours. Without clear lane ownership, you will clash over who decides what.
What this type can say: “I see we both have strong views on this. Let's split ownership down the middle. Anything that touches both, we settle together by Friday. Deal?”
ID and I (Influence)
You push for a decision and a ship date. They push for the team to feel good about it first. They hear the objections before launch, so ask what people are saying before you lock the plan.
What this type can say: “I love the energy you're bringing to this. I need us to land on a decision in the next 10 minutes. What's your top recommendation?”
SD and S (Steadiness)
This is the pairing that requires the most care from you. An S-type colleague keeps the routine work running, and you do not notice how much until they stop. They usually want time to absorb a change, and blunt delivery can sting even when they say nothing. If you bulldoze an S-type, they will not fight you. They will quietly disengage. And you will not notice until they resign.
What this type can say: “I know this is a big change. Look at how it hits your current work tonight, and tell me tomorrow what worries you most. I have time to listen.”
CD and C (Conscientiousness)
The productive tension that makes great work. You want to start. They want the numbers to hold. You see their detailed analysis as overthinking. They see your speed as recklessness. But when you learn to trust each other, you get work that is fast and also checked. The C-type is the person who saves you from the expensive mistakes your speed creates.
What this type can say: “I trust your analysis. Here's what I need: your best recommendation with the top three risks, by Thursday. If you need more time or data to feel confident, tell me now.”
