Say that you earn

We ask every partner to do this so the people they talk to can trust what they read. When you share your WiredType link as a partner, the people who read your post have a right to know you earn a commission if they buy. It lets them decide for themselves, and the FTC requires it.

Use this sentence, exactly: "I earn a commission if you buy through this link." If WiredType gave you a free report, use: "WiredType gave me a free report, and I earn a commission if you buy through this link."

Where it goes

  • In a post or caption, put it at the top, next to your link, before the "more" cut.
  • In a story, put it on the same frame as the link, large enough to read, for the whole time the link shows.
  • In a video, say it near the start and keep it on screen. Turn on the platform's paid-promotion setting too.
  • In a live stream or podcast, say it aloud at the start and again when you give the link or code.
  • In an email, put it next to the link, in the body. Every email about WiredType also needs a working unsubscribe link, your postal address, your real name as the sender and an honest subject line, and you stop writing to anyone who unsubscribes.
  • In a message to one person, put it next to the link, in the same message.
  • With your partner code or your printed partner card, say: "I earn a commission if you buy with this code."

WiredType asks for the full sentence beside the link, because readers often miss a hashtag, a bio line or a note on another page. Every post in your kit already has the sentence in the right place.
